Swimming
The weekend before last we decided to take Jason into the pool for the first time. It was a little colder than I had expected it would be, but once we got in it was alright. Jason didn't seem scared, just a little surprised by all the water. He really liked the waterfall and touched the rocks while the water was flowing down them. I tried to show him how to splash but he seemed a bit overwhelmed. I can't wait to take him in again when he gets a little older. But first, swimsuit shopping ;0)

My Little Terror
Jason is getting bigger every day and he's also learning new things almost daily it seems. It started with the crawling, now he's sitting up. And he's been good at whining for awhile. Last week he was blowing raspberries and today he started to yell. This is a nice change from the whining, even though it sometimes startles me. Josh and I were driving to a friends house when out of the blue he started to yell about something. Scared me...it's really cute though, a welcome change from his normal monotonous whine.
He tears around in his walker. He loves to chase the cats and he follows you around when he wants to be picked up. He'll reach up and tug on your pants, then when you look down at him he just grins. He's also learned how to open drawers and cupboards in the kitchen. The tray on his walker prevents him from getting into either of them, thankfully. We've learned that it hurts like hell when he runs over your toes or into your heels going full speed.
At this very moment he is happily playing in the walker, singing/talking to the vacuum cleaner. And there are only 10 minutes until its time to get ready for bed. This is a surprise, usually he would be whining and screaming in exhaustion. I won't complain, I think I'll just enjoy the peace :o)

6 Month Well Visit
Jason went to the pediatrician on Friday for his 6 month well visit. He now weighs 19.5 lbs and is 26" long. The doctor told us that we can get Jason a forward facing car seat anytime we want now since he's almost 20 lbs. Josh and I are excited about this because Jason absolutely HATES his car seat and I think its because he's got nothing to look at but the backseat. I do have a little baby mirror back there for him but I think he finds that less than amusing. Maybe he would like it better if I turned on the music it plays, but the song and the women singing it make me want to jump off a cliff...so I just leave it off ;)
He also got three shots and a dose of drops (the rotavirus vaccine is given in drops) while we were there. He loves the drops as always and screamed his head off when he got the shots. But I think he handled them better this time than last time. He was cranky and feverish for a couple of days after his last set but this time he was only cranky on Friday night. And it wasn't even that bad. I guess we go back to the doctor when he is 9 months old and she said he could be standing or even walking by that point! I can see maybe standing...walking by then is so hard for me to grasp.
Jason learned a new trick recently: Blowing Raspberries. He loves it and he does it all the time. Its very funny to see his little tongue all stuck out of his mouth and hear him making silly spitting noises. He really gets going and ends up with pools of drool on his shirt. Too funny.

The History of Cars
When I was 16 my parents gave me a 95 Ford Escort. It had been a family car for several years, was all paid off, and ran OK. I loved that car...right into the back of a large pickup truck when I was 18.
After that was when I moved in with Josh. His parents let us have an old El Camino that they had sitting around (we have a lot of cars here...) and we used that for a little while. During that little while I managed to back it into a Fire Hydrant. Either way the transmission went out and we had to buy ourselves a car.
So with the help of Josh's uncle, we purchased a 2001 Chevy Malibu. I loved that car too. Only this car got lucky, I never did it any harm. Actually I think I accidentally drove it off a sidewalk once when we were in CO because I couldn't tell where the exit to the parking lot was. I seriously thought I was using it until I heard the car scraping on the sidewalk and crashing onto the pavement. But it survived. Until the jerks at Walmart put the wrong kind/defective oil filter on it and screwed it all up inside.
Now we need another new car. Then comes the 2005 Hyundai Sonata. I really loved that car. Sun roof/moon roof, heated seats, nice stereo. The whole thing totally rocked. About 6 months after we got that, some dork came across the lane I was in and hit the back passenger's side door. No big deal, it got fixed. But not a month or two after it was all pretty and new looking again it met it's fate. I was driving home from work and this guy came flying out into my lane. Apparently he wasn't looking to see if anyone was in it before he made a left turn into traffic. Either way I hit the side of his car and the force of that ran me into a tree. Bye bye Sonata.
Then came the 2006 Dodge Charger. By far the coolest of all the cars (although I've always been partial to that Sonata). It held up pretty well until the other day when I smashed in the side of it at the gas station. I still can't figure out how I managed to do this, but as I was pulling out of the bay of gas pumps, I had myself moved over too far to avoid hitting another car's door...and just started rocking into this post at the end of the island. When I say I smashed in the whole passenger's side of the car, believe me I mean it. Several people have said 'Oh, it can't be that bad', and then they look at it. So just trust me, it's pretty screwed.
Why does this keep happening to me??

Third Times a Charm?
OK I seriously, really really want to actually do this whole blogging thing before I forget everything about Jason's first moments of life. Amanda, I am so terribly jealous that you are talented enough to handle a baby and a blog because I just haven't been able to do it yet. But, now that he is a little bigger and easily amused by things like a walker and a vacuum cleaner that he just can't quite reach, maybe I'll have a couple of moments here and there to write about him.
Well to start, Jason was born on November 15th, 2007 at 1:16am. He weighed 7lbs, 5oz and was 20 1/4" long. I was in labor for 3 1/2 hours. Most women stop listening to me after I tell them that, so I'll just stop there.
Since then Jason has grown to somewhere over 17lbs...and I don't know how many inches. Good news is he has a 6 month well visit next Friday, so maybe I'll be able to get better stats soon. He can roll over, almost sit up, and he just started crawling the other day. He also just started babbling the other day too. I kept complaining to Josh that I didn't understand why everyone else's baby 'talked' so much but ours was so quiet. Now he delights us both with silly babble :)
He loves bananas, applesauce, green beans, peas, sweet potates and squash. He isn't too hot on peaches and pears unless I mix them into his cereal. He'll attempt to eat just about anything he can put into his hand and then bring to his mouth, including hair, t-shirts, and fake houseplants.
I think he's got some teeth coming in, although nothing has sprouted up yet. I can see one in his gums, I've been waiting for over a month now! He's learned how to pick his pacifier up and put it back in his own mouth. Now if only he would do that at night, I wouldn't have to get up at all :o)
That's all I can think of for now, but more to come hopefully...I swear I'm going to keep up with this thing this time!

First Ultrasound
OK so I had my first ultrasound last week and that was very exciting. At first it kinda sucked because the ultrasound tech informed me that I have what's called a 'tilted uterus' and that means that instead of being up and down like most women's are, mine tilts off to the side. So effectively that means the baby is back towards my back. Which according to the tech explains why my back hurts so badly if I sit still for too long.
Anyway right at first this was a problem because a lot of my internal organs are in front of the baby in such a way that we were having a hard time seeing it. The tech had to dig around in my stomach for quite awhile with the little nobby thing...I have no idea what it's called all of a sudden.... We kept seeing the baby briefly but then intestines and things would start moving back in front of it and poof it was gone. Finally she managed to get my organs to cooperate and stay out of the way so we could see the baby for awhile. It has legs and arms and fingers and toes and you could see it's tummy (which the tech says means it's eating now so that's a good thing). It was sleeping most of the time. We got it to wake up for a second and it kinda waved it's little arms at us angrily and then went back to sleep :)
So I guess I find out what it's going to be sometime in the middle of July and I'm still thinking it's a girl no matter how many people tell me they think it's a boy. So there! :P lol...
Here are some pics...

Bad Pic and Failing Brains
Yeah so I had Josh's Mom take this picture of me yesterday and I look terrible. I guess the whole purpose of the picture was to show my growing tummy but did I have to look like one of those zombie things from Dawn of the Dead???

Also I seem to be losing my mind. I already noticed that I can't seem to remember anything people tell me at work like I used to be able to do. Everyone who knows how I work knows that A) I'm usually a very hard worker and get everything done within minutes of being asked to do it and B) I write requests I don't have time to get to at that very moment on sticky notes. Now that usually means requests that I won't have time to get to within the next hour or day...not within the next 5 minutes. Now if someone asks me to do something and I don't write it down write away...well they might as well ask again!
And I locked Josh and I out of the house today...good one. Thanks Bri for coming over to let us back in. I was about to kill the dogs for getting their nasty faces all over my pants!

Catching up...
Yeah so I officially suck at blogging...I haven't been on here for over a month a I feel like a lazy blob...but I feel like that anyway so oh well.
Let's see things that have happened since the last time I did this:
I had my first doctor's appt. on April 11th. Nothing terribly interesting except for they took a bunch of my blood and I'm convinced that's what officially kicked in my morning sickness. I feel like I've been throwing up ever since...but more about that later...Anyways I have my next and much more interesting appt. on May 23rd. I get to hear the heartbeat and we're having an ultrasound too I guess to make sure all the dates are correct. Oh yeah my due date is Novemeber 30th currently but that could change based off the ultrasound.
Morning sickness...I swore I would never complain about this because it's only temporary and all that jazz...but I've been so horribly sick. It got to the point where I hadn't been able to eat or drink anything for days because I was just throwing it all back up. So my doc put me on some nifty meds that make me feel much better. Except I started feeling too good and I got a little neurotic over it. Ask just about anybody at Waxie. I think I talked to everyone about it. I actually quit taking the medication just to see if I would get sick again. And I did so that makes me feel better for some strange reason...
Other than that I've just been working...and tired...and that's about all. I'm taking a trip in a couple of weeks to see my brother graduate high school in Indiana so that should be fun. I'm really very excited about the whole thing. And I leave the day after my ultrasound so I'm hoping I'll get some pictures to take and show him and my bio dad. They are both very excited about the baby :)
Well I'm done blabbering for now...

Big (and surprising!) news!
Well I had a very interesting weekend! After my fantastic visit with my grandparents on Saturday, Sunday was an even more interesting day. I say this because Josh and I found out that....I'm pregnant! I went to the doctor's on Monday to confirm it and sure enough, I'm 4 weeks along. I never would have guessed but now I'm SO excited! Josh and I are both very excited, lol. So my first prenatal appointment with an actual OB is scheduled for 4/11. I don't know if they'll be able to tell me much of anything at that point but I don't really mind, I'm just so amazed and ecstatic about everything right now.

Grandma and Grandpa
Today was a very exciting day. I decided to take a trip up to Cornville, AZ (it's right outside Sedona for those of you who haven't been there) and I visited my Grandparents on my bio father's side for the first time. They hadn't seen me since I was 6 months old. They even showed me a picture of me at that visit and it was kinda funny and very sad at the same time. Funny because I was making this horrible face and looking at my dad like I wanted to cry my eyes out....sad because it's been almost 22 years since I've seen them. And obviously I don't remember seeing them when I was 6 months old, so I could this as my first time. You might be curious as to why I haven't seen my grandparents in 22 years...if you know me, you know why. If you don't know me well enough to know why just ask, I don't mind telling you. I just don't feel like typing it all out on here.
Anyways it was a really nice visit. They showed me their house, which I liked a lot. Very clean and bright looking, lots of windows that show all the gorgeous scenery outside and it all seems very relaxing, perfect for retirement! My grandma showed me all of her crafts that she works on, mainly quilts now. She makes quilts for all of the grandchildren in the family and I heard from my brother that they were truely awesome. She is currently working on mine and I got to see the squares while I was there. She's doing the whole thing in red and white stars (white squares with red stars) and each block has a different pattern of red fabric making up the star. I think it's going to be really pretty when it's done. I can't wait! She also has this really amazing collection of Precious Moments statues that I'm now completely in love with. She has a million of them and they are absolutely...well precious!
Other than that we just sat around and talked about stuff. My grandparents are both really funny and very nice. I also got to meet my Uncle Tim who stays with them and he is really nice as well. And even though the drive there from Mesa takes 2 hours, it's a really easy and pretty drive so I'm looking forward to going up there again soon.

I'm going to try this again
So it's been like 3 years or so since I last attempted this blogging thing and I think I actually get it now! Not that I have very many interesting things to say but you never know. I might come up with something worth reading. For now I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm back to blogging. I guess I could tell you about my day...
It is Monday. I was stuck in traffic both on the way to work and on the way back. During work I was busy as hell because somehow I still haven't managed to catch up on all the work that piled up while I was on business in CA. Or maybe it's just that I was behind from that so now I'm behind from being behind...who knows!?! So my day went by too quick, 5pm came too soon (or not soon enough...) and now I have a whole desk full of work to look forward to when I return tomorrow. After I sit in traffic. Oh but I have to be at work early tomorrow too! But at least I get to leave an hour early to go to the doc. Don't worry, I'm not dying, just my foot is still all swollen and hurty from my car accident back in January. So maybe they'll give me some painkillers and tell me not to be such a baby. Or maybe it'll actually be something worth talking about...I guess you'll have to wait and see.
Am I boring you yet? I promise, next time I'll make sure I have something to talk about ;)
