Purple Video Camera
So I finally went out and bought myself a video camera. I've been saying I needed one of these since before Jason was born. I didn't want to miss out on recording him when he was small...well I did. :-( Oh well, I have one now so hopefully I can make up for lost time. And it's a really pretty purple color too :-)
Here is a video I took of him the other day just walking around and being silly:

In case anyone cares I started this entry last Saturday and just now realized that I never actually published it! Sheesh...

Worried?
Jason had his 15 month checkup a couple of weeks ago...yes I know, I'm super behind as usual.
Anyhow, he seems to be growing like a normal child. He weighs 23 and some odd pounds. I don't know how tall he is or anything because I can never understand the nurse and the doctor isn't much better. But she's really nice...
I was so excited that he was finally walking when we went because I was sure she was going to be concerned if he wasn't. But instead she was concerned about other things.
Jason doesn't talk...he makes a lot of babbling noises and coos but he never says 'mama' or 'dada' or any other little words that babies his age should say. She suggested that maybe it's because he gets what he wants by pointing, but he also doesn't point. I also mentioned that he stopped waving bye bye. He does a lot of learning to do something and then quitting. He also did that with blowing raspberries and dancing. He did those things for a little while and then just quit.
The point of all that is I guess is that she wants him to see a speech therapist. Just to make sure there isn't something going on. I've had several people ask me if I think he can hear OK. As far as I know he can. He comes when I call him, he always looks up at airplanes when he hears them, etc. etc. I've had a couple of suggestions for testing his hearing, like sneaking up behind him and dropping a pan...I'm not about to scare the living hell out of my child just to see if he can hear. I think we'll wait until I get the referral from the doctor for the speech therapist and go from there.
The other worry was that the pediatrician thinks she sees Jason's eyes wandering. When he was much younger I had mentioned my concern about that since Jason's dad had issues with his eyes wandering when he was younger. But at the time she said that all little babies have a bit of that problem because the muscles are so underdeveloped. She had given me a referral to an opthamologist at that time but I never used it since it seemed to get better. Apparently it's starting to come back again and now the doctor wants me to actually go see the opthamologist. Again, just to make sure everything is alright. I guess Jason's dad had also noticed this was happening occasionally but never mentioned it to me until I told him what the doctor said. Great, don't I feel like the crappy inattentive mother of the year...

Some incredibly exciting news...
JASON CAN WALK!!!
He started really cruising around on his own this past weekend. I brought him over to my friend Erin's parent's house to visit and he just starting walking all over the place.
When they asked if he was walking yet, I gave the same response I generally give to everyone "He'll take a couple of steps between the furniture but that's pretty much it." Not 30 minutes after we got there he stood himself up and then turned and started walking across the living room. By the time we left he was going all the way across the living room, down the hall and into the kitchen! I just couldn't believe it.
He's really proud of himself and sometimes he gets super excited and tries to run. Of course he then falls down. But that's OK, he's getting the hang of it.
We took him to the mall the other night to play in the play area with the other kids and he was so excited. He kept trying to walk but then he would start waving his arms and shrieking and squealing at the other kids and just fall over. Once he calmed down he was doing fine.
I'm so proud of my little man!!

I Swear...
That this haircut really does look really good on me!! These photos I keep getting are just not flattering...maybe I should try taking one in the morning after I get ready for work instead of at night. Considering I work 8 hours a day, come home and chase my son around for several hours and then do laundry and whatever other housework I need done after he goes to bed, maybe that's why I look so darn tired and just not right:
At least it's parted a little better in that one...ugh!!
Anywho, I've been slacking on the blogging front. So here's a few exciting/interesting highlights:
- Jason had his first ear infection...actually a double ear infection. I'm crossing fingers and toes that this isn't a reoccurring event, as I apparently had a terrible time with ear infections when I was his age.
- Jason has taken a couple of unassisted steps between couches and tables. He still refuses to try and walk any sort of long distance (i.e. 5 feet).
- He appears to have about 3 teeth coming in at the same time. Two more on bottom and one that's still working its way through on top. He chews his fingers (and my cell phone and car keys) constantly these days.
- I really need to take some new pictures of him. Hoping to buy myself a decent camera with tax return money. Maybe spending a little chunk of cash on something like that will motivate me to use it more.
- I won EOQ for the 4th quarter of 2008 at my job. Could have knocked me over with a feather. That's the second time I've won that award (first time was 1st quarter of 2007) but since the last time I won it they've doubled the cash prize you get with that. I plan on spending it on clothes :-)

10 Inches...
That's how much length I had taken off of my hair today. I LOVE IT!! Although I don't really love these pictures...not too sure what's up with that. Maybe it really looks terrible...I dunno :P

My mom tried her best to take some pictures...

Then I turned the camera over to my Dad who took this one. It's OK

Just having a little fun here...I look awful lol...
Input would be lovely :-)

Catch Up
I have been so friggen busy lately...I didn't realize that I hadn't posted since Jason's birthday. YIKES!!
I can't think of everything that's happened lately but here are some highlights:
- Thanksgiving - Spent it with my family. Jason ate some of the food. I got him this adorable outfit that said "Thankful for Tigger and Pooh" on it and it was too big. I made him wear it anyway :-) Naturally I didn't take any pictures. I really suck at that...
- Jason now says 'dog' 'nana' (banana) and 'a duh'...I don't know what that means. He says it like "Ah duh...ah duh" I thought he was saying "all done" but then he says it sometimes when it doesn't make sense, like when I close the gate at the top of the stairs. His dad claims he says 'mama' all the time, but he never says it when I'm around. I've also been told that he can say his own name. Again...never heard it.
- I taught Jason what a bee is, sorta. The logo for the company I work for is a bee. So there are bees on my jacket and polo shirts and name tag, etc. If I ask Jason 'Where's the bee?' he'll point to it. Then I have to buzz to make him giggle :-)
- I believe I mentioned that his top teeth came in (so there were four teeth total). Now he has getting a tooth on each side of the top two. One has already come through (so now there are 5) but the other is almost there.
- He's almost walking. I think I've been saying that for like 4 months. He pulls up really well and walks around everything, as long as he can hold on. He practically runs across the room with his walking toys. If only he would let go...
- On a me note, I'm going to change my hair. Lookout around the 30th because I'll be posting pictures then. It's going to be a little different ;-)
That's all for now!!

Happy 1st Birthday Jason!
On Saturday November 15th at 1:16am, my little boy TURNED ONE!!
On Sunday we had a birthday party for him :-) Several of my family friends, and a few of my personal friends showed up. We all had a pretty awesome time and Jason enjoyed his second first birthday party (his dad had one for him on Friday).
Here are some highlights:

He got his very own baby Chuck's :-)

We discovered that, to Jason, Curious George falling off of a
box is one of the funniest things EVER
And of course....CAKE!

Jason's First Halloween
It occurred to me today that I forgot to post a blog about this!
I took Friday off for Jason's First Halloween (boy, I worked really hard last week, didn't I??)
Jason and I went to Waxie and visited all of my coworker friends and showed off his adorable lion costume. Patty took this picture of him crawling around:

After we left Waxie we had to go to the lab and get some routine blood work done. His doctor gave me paperwork for this at his 9 month appointment. I realized that it was almost time for his 12 months appointment and figured I should probably get it done! Good news, the doc called and said all is as it should be. Bad news, that was one of the saddest things I've had to do so far as a mommy I think. They made me hold him still while they put a needle in his arm and he cried...and I cried harder. :*(
Once all that unpleasantness was done, I took Jason to Lifelock where my mommy works. She got to show him off to all of her coworkers. He waved to almost everyone. He also got to go trick or treating in one of the departments there that they had dedicated for that. I was impressed by all of the decorations. They really went all out. Forgot my camera and didn't get any pics.
Later on after my mom came home from work we took Jason to a couple of the neighbor's houses and showed him off a little. Then it was time to take him to his dad's house. Here are some pics we took before he left:

The Fair
I decided to take the day off on Wednesday and my mom and I took Jason to the Arizona State Fair! Since the gates don't open until 12pm, Jason was ready for a nap as soon as we got there. So he slept in his stroller while my mom and I explored. When we arrived at the petting zoo area, I tried to wake Jason up and he was still sleeping soundly so my mom and I wandered around in the zoo playing with the animals ourselves.
Then Jason finally woke up:
And, just as I'd figured, he really loved the animals in the petting zoo:
Then we wandered around looking for a ride that would be baby friendly enough for Jason. We came across a Pony Ride and I was so excited when they said he could ride! He did SO good! He loved it and he held on tight and sat up straight and didn't wobble or anything. I walked around with him of course, but he rode like he'd been doing it forever :-)
This carnival dude behind us was super nice but wouldn't quit talking...
Such a fun time at the fair!!

He Waves!
Jason's newest trick is waving...at everyone and everything. The past couple of days when I picked him up from his dad's house, he started waving bye to everyone before I even told him it was time to go home! I don't know if it's just because he likes to wave or because he realizes that I'm going to take him bye bye. His dad mentioned that he will wave at you when you come into a room and often will wave to you when it looks like you're going to leave as well.
He also waves at himself in the mirror, waves at stars and airplanes, the faucet in the bathtub, the ceiling fan, etc.
Other noteable things:
He gives hugs and kisses, although the kisses involve attempting to bite your bottom lip and then pull it off. Hugs are better, they come complete with grunts of effort :)
His top two teeth are coming in! He's going to look adorable with four front teeth.
He learned to climb the stairs recently so we had to install baby gates at the top and bottom of the steps. He stands and rattles them like prison bars.
He also has learned the art of pretending to choke. He makes gagging noises and when you look at him he smiles and laughs. Not funny little booger!

Jason at the Zoo
Last weekend Jason and I went to the zoo with a very special friend of mine. This isn't the first time we've taken him there but it was the first time he was really awake and paying attention.
The Phoenix Zoo just recently opened a new water play area for the kids in September. We decided to take Jason there to check it out before the weather got too cold. He enjoyed crawling around and playing in the water. Then we took him over to the children's area so he could go into the petting zoo and see the goats. Here's some shots of Jason enjoying the animals:

I really did try to keep him from pulling hair and poking eyes...
Then we took him over near that Spider Web climing thing so he could play around in the sand. He had fun watching the other little kids play as well as staring at other babies:

My Week
I don't really have a whole lot to blog about this week so I thought I would just write down a bunch of random events...hope that's amusing to someone:
- I had a really crappy week at work.
- One of my sales reps was mean and made me cry :(
- Did I mention the week was crappy?? On top of the crying thing, several people in the sales dept. have taken interest in me and a friend I have at work...and think it's their business to tell me whether or not we can eat lunch together.
- I spent a bunch of time cleaning up crap and messes I didn't make because we are having a big Groundbreaking event on Monday and the owner of the company and all sorts of other important people are showing up.
- The sales office hasn't looked so pretty and clean in the entire 2 1/2 years I've been working there.
- My review is coming up soon and I think I deserve a raise. I don't think they think I deserve one and I'm afraid I won't get one.
- I went to the company picnic on Saturday and I was really bored. There is nothing for me to do with an 11 month old at a place like that. We talked to people and played in the grass. It rained a little.
- I'm done talking about work now...
- Jason is totally into sticking his tounge out. He can also twist his tounge up and he sticks it out at me all twisted. I can't do that...I'm jealous ;)
- Jason also farted in the bathtub last night and scared himself. I laughed so hard I almost fell into the tub. Jason laughed as well...apparently it's funny when mommy laughs so hard she snorts!
- My weekend has been much better than my week. I'm thankful for quality time with my son and others...
- I washed my car today. Go me! I haven't done that in...3 months? Despite the horrible damage to the side, my car actually looks really nice when its all clean. Just stand on the driver's side and you'll think so too ;)
*AHHH* Done venting. Need a shower now, I got all stinky washing that car...lol ;)

Jason at the Park
I took Jason to the park this weekend. Well actually I took him to several parks before I gave up and settled on the one in the pictures. We drove to this big park by my house but there was some kind of event going on and tons of people there. Too hectic for just the two of us! Then I drove to a little playground by my parents house hoping there was a baby swing there, but there wasn't so finally I drove to another little playground that I knew of and even though there still wasn't a baby swing we stopped to play anyway:

Lost his shoe :)

What is this stuff??

I also got a little video of him playing in the sand. My mom's camera doesn't have sound so it's just a little clip:

Also before we went out that day I discovered that the camera took video in the first place. Here is the original video I shot :)
